Eileen O'Connor, MA, PhD
Dr. O'Connor is conducting research on the role of language in the construction and dissemination of knowledge on health determinants using a gender-based analysis. Her PhD in History, completed at the University of Ottawa in 2003, focused on the medicalization of apparel as a key determinant of women's health. In her postdoctoral research, Eileen will continue to explore knowledge construction and uptake on health determinants, in particular, the determinants of poverty and social exclusion. She is presently co-editing a monograph on the History of the Women's Movement and teaches courses in Women's History, the History of Medicine, Health Sociology, and the Sociology of Sport & Physical Activity at the University of Ottawa.
