THOMAS HARDY DRAMA PAGE
Director: Keith Wilson, University of Ottawa
This page is intended to provide information about Hardy's drama, most specifically -- although not exclusively -- about actual theatrical production and performance of his work. Such productions are of two main kinds: 1) plays or dramatic adaptations of fiction prepared by Hardy himself and 2) plays adapted from Hardy's work by others. At the moment, this site limits itself to information about productions, both amateur and professional, staged in Hardy's life-time -- i.e. productions of which he was aware and with which in many cases he had some direct involvement. As the site expands it will encompass information about selected posthumous adaptations, scenarios projected by Hardy that did not generate completed plays, and materials related not so much to actual performance but to Hardy's experiments in dramatic form.
