Project Outcomes
Two workshop activities stand out:
- The first was to identify problems that frequently emerge when academic scholars research Aboriginal peoples, then to identify solutions. What was surprising was how both groups - academic and Aboriginal representatives - identified similar problems and frustrations. This led to a decision to develop new methodologies for collaborative research initiatives, based on the solutions identified in the workshop.
- The second was to identify opportunities for future initiatives. Each stakeholder group identified interests or opportunities for collaborative endeavours with every other stakeholder group.
Since the workshop, the stakeholders have continued to communicate with one another, and are currently working on a number of different bi-partisan and multi-partisan initiatives.
