Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies (ACUNS)
Canadian Northern Studies Trust Awards
From the Canadian Northern Studies Trust website: "The Canadian Northern Studies Trust (CNST) is ACUNS scholarship awards program. It was established in 1982 to further the Association's manade to advance knowledge and understanding of Canada's North by offering student awards for exceptional northern-based research. The purpose of the CNST is to foster scholars and scientists with northern experience and at the same time to enhance educational opportunities available for northern residents to obtain post-secondary education at Canadian colleges and universities." Beverly and Qamanirjuaq Caribou Management Board
Caribou Management Scholarship Fund
From the BQCMB website: "Since 1988, the BQCMB has helped post-secondary students learn more about the management and conservation of barren-ground caribou and their habitat through its Caribou Management Scholarship F und. The annual award currently carries a value of up to $1,500 and is open to anyone studying barren-ground caribou and/or their range in Canada. Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)
Among grants that may be of interest are two new funds were flagged for researcher/Aboriginal community collaboration:
- Aboriginal Research: Develpment Grants
From the SSHRC website: "To help teams of Aboriginal community organizations and university-based researchers develop research partnerships and proposals to investigate issues of concern to Aboriginal peoples." Grants are up to $25,000 for up to 2 years. For more information, check the SSHRC website for updates. - Aboriginal Research: Research Grants
From the SSHRC website: "To support university-based researchers and Aboriginal community organizations to conduct research on issues of concern to Aboriginal peoples." Grants are up to $100,000 annually, or $250,000 over 3 years. For more information, check the SSHRC website for updates. - Aid to Research Workshops and Conferences in Canada
From the SSHRC website: "To support workshops and conferences in Canada." Grants for workshops are up to $25,000; for conferences, up to $50,000. For more information, check the SSHRC website for updates.
